Possibly half a century old, this wizened and reclusive mirror fell to Chris Farnes at a Sussex stillwater.
The fish, known as Dogs, pulled the scales round to 34lb 7oz and fell to a boilie-and-maggot approach.
Chris told Angling Times: “It is a very, very rare visitor to the bank and is around 50 years old.
“It was caught on a white 12mm triple-flavoured Nutex pop-up from Raw Baits fished over half a kilo of 14mm boilies and a pint of white maggots. I cast to a hard area at 50 yards where I’d seen it head and shoulder during the late afternoon.”
Chris fished hinged stiff rigs featuring a size 4 Fox LSC hook.
