Brace of thirties in storm from Conningbrook

A stormy 36-hour session on Kent’s notoriously difficult Conningbrook provided Darren Cowling with a brace of thirties.

The Ashford rod caught Little Pec at 31lb 6oz and White Tips at 33lb 12oz on Sticky Krill boilies from a gravel area at 45 yards.

He said: “Just after setting up the rods, one of the maddest storms I have ever seen hit the lake. My brolly ripped out of the ground and my bedchair flipped over!

“The next morning the lake seemed devoid of fish; I couldn't believe it. I started to pack down, ready to move on any sign of fish, when my pre-baited area sprang into life and I was made up to see one of the Brook’s few original residents, White Tips, in the net.”

The following morning, Darren bagged Little Pec after a lengthy battle. He said: “It was an amazing feeling and a session I will never forget.”
