The Yateley complex is steeped in carp history, but this 43lb 12oz common proves the Hampshire venue is not living in the past.
The specimen was the highlight of Simon Grantham’s session on the Match Lake, which also included three other fish to 25lb.
The Fareham rod said: “I cast to showing fish just off my baited spot on the Tuesday morning, fishing a Shoreline Baits The nuts pop-up. We saw the fish ‘head and shoulder’ out about five minutes before the bite and I thought it was a good thirty.
“The fish put up a cracking fight and, thanks to my mate Lee, was netted first time with a lot of weed. I was in the right place at the right time and followed it up with fish of 25lb, 21lb and 18lb. It’s a new UK pb.”
