Lee Collings’ swim was left “like a bombsite” after a chaotic feeding spell at the Carp Society’s Farriers Lake.
The Greys and Mainline-backed angler’s best of the trip was this 38lb 12oz common, followed by one of 31lb 8oz alongside three twenties and a double.
After arriving at the Gloucestershire venue on a Sunday evening, Lee baited each rod with half a kilo Mainline Cell and Hybrid boilies in 15mm and 18mm sizes.
He said: “The following morning, just on dawn, my line pulled out of the clip and took no line as the fish was straight in the weed. I managed to keep the fish moving and soon netted a 27lb 2oz common. I was over the moon as it was first fish from the venue on only my second trip to the lake this year.
“That morning a few fish had turned up in the area but they were showing two swims up to my left. However, instead of moving I decided to stay put and hopefully wait for them to move down instead of spooking them.
“Nothing happened for the rest of the day, even though the fish were showing to my left and right. I was quite confident that night and was rewarded with a 25lb 8oz common in the early hours of the morning, then around 6am the chaos started as I had three takes in a hour!
“It started with a 18lb 8oz mirror, a 25-pounder and a 38lb 12oz common, then, while I was having the photos of that one, the other rod sprung into life and I managed a 31lb 8oz common. My swim resembled a bombsite!”
All the fish fell to Cell and Hybrid bottom baits presented on ESP Stripteaze and size 6 curved-shank hooks fished blowback style.
