116lb bass from New Zealand!

Bass don’t get much bigger, or impressive, than this colossal 116lb specimen caught from Kings Island New Zealand.

The angler, known only as Stu, was fishing aboard Enchanter Fishing Charter’s Cova Rose and lured the fish from an area known as the Three Kings with a large 4kg skip jack tuna livebait on 130lb braid in 80m – 100m of water.

The boat’s captain, Steven Gray, said: “Fish like this are not easily landed as they dive for the reef when hooked.”

In 2010 a world record bass of 190lb was caught from Ranfurny Bank, New Zealand by angler Terence Price.
