This 31lb 10oz common carp topped an eight fish haul for Stephen Nickson during a session on Emmotland Pond One in Yorkshire.
The local 23-year-old landed the new personal best on the first night of his trip from the bottom of a marginal shelf in 7ft of water.
The rest of his catch, which included fish to 21lb, were taken from a mussel bed in open water and a clear sand patch close to an overhanging tree.
He said: “The big common hadn’t been caught for over 18 months so I was delighted to land it on only my second session on the water.”
Stephen used a Frank Warwick Baits 14mm Fruit Smoothy wafter hookbait on a size 6 long shank hook and an Atomic Jel-E-Wyre hooklink.
