Packington Somers record smashed

The latest event at Packington Somers turned out to be a memorable affair when Gary Lakin landed the biggest carp ever taken in a match at the complex.

After drawing peg 44 on Molands at the Warwickshire site, the Fishing Lodge-backed ace decided to use popped up bread on the straight lead and was able to tempt a number of mirrors and commons into feeding before the 21lb 8oz specimen made an appearance.

There was further joy at the weigh in as the scales revealed Gary had taken victory with 67lb 10oz, fending off competition from Max Higgot who recorded 47lb 6oz.
