Fish O Mania entries shoot up

The organisers of the coveted Fish O Mania have revealed that entries have shot up by over 20% this year.

Officials from the Angling Trust have now processed the data after the application period came to an end and they have revealed that almost 1000 people applied for tickets compared to 816 for the 2011 competition.

Figures have also shown that on average each angler has applied for five tickets for the heats, with the governing body receiving 4662 individual requests for the sought after permits.

Qualification kicks off at Viaduct Fishery on April 14, with the all-important final taking place at Staffordshire’s Cudmore Fisheries on July 14.
