Carp angler catches 10lb 8oz tench on boilie hookbait

This picture of a 10lb 8oz tench will be a welcome sight for many anglers out there and it certainly made Paul Hyams’ day after it picked up his boilie hookbait which was intended for carp.

The bailiff at the popular Great Linford Lakes complex in Bucks banked the new personal best for the species during a 48-hour session on Linford 1 and rounded off a memorable trip by later banking a 30lb 4oz carp.

Paul fished a bright yellow pop-up over a bed of around 30 free offerings at 40yds range and won the battle with both fish using a rig made from 15lb fluorocarbon and a size 6 hook.
