'Summer tactic' scores for top match angler

A tactic often associated with hot summer days has been helping a top match angler win on a weekly basis in cool spring conditions.

Rochdale Angling Centre rod John McFarland has been emptying his favourite water regularly since the early shoots of spring appeared and puts his success down to a positive attack.

“Fine lines and tiny baits aren’t always necessary and I’ve been stepping everything up a level and it’s worked a treat, with F1 nets to almost 100lb,” explained John.
