Supermarket baits have become an essential part of most anglers attack regardless of what species they are after and one forward thinking matchman has uncovered another gem that has helped him bag up on a regular basis.
Colin Matthews is a regular on the West Midlands match scene and has been taking hauls of carp to over 100lb on a tinned food that the vast majority of fishermen have shunned for years on end.
“There are so many items in supermarkets that anglers completely dismiss that are ideal for a variety of species. My latest find has a soft texture and releases lots of scent and colour once it is dunked in the water,” explained Colin.
To find out which canned food has been helping Colin pick up brown envelopes on a weekly basis, pick up a copy of next week’s Angling Times, on the shelves from Tuesday August 2.
