Records tumble for club anglers

Two new club records and a lake record have been set in the space of just one weekend.

Medway Trotters angler Steve Peters landed a total of 358lb of carp to set a new lake record for Willow Lake at popular Essex commercial Tyler’s Common. Steve also set a new club record for the Kent based club by fishing dog biscuit on the long pole.

In the 14-peg match, ten anglers broke the magical ton barrier with a total of 2200lb being put on the scales at the weigh-in from the 14 matchmen.

Charlemont & Social AC matchman Hayden Guy also set a new club record at Elmbridge Fishery, Worcestershire. Hayden weighed-in 173lb 10oz of carp and bream smashing the old club record of just 136lb. He fished the long pole with worm to land carp and bream on Heron Pool to beat his nearest rival by over 70lb.

Charlemont & Social AC secretary Alan Partridge said “Hayden has only been in the club three years and is one of the youngest members. A fantastic achievement.”
