Maver Larford Lakes, Match, Specimen & Arena Pools (92 pegs)
The best turnout of the qualifiers so far saw 92 anglers attend with all three lakes in use and winner on the day was Maver/Marukyu Baits-backed venue expert Andy Kinder who drew peg 40 on the Match Lake. Starting on the short pole shallow, things got off to a slow start with the opening couple of hours providing very little sport. However, Andy managed to find the fish tight against the island with a small Method feeder using mini boilies to land skimmers, F1 hybrids and carp to 10lb for a match winning 190-05-00. Andy will now fish in the £50,000 Grand Final on Saturday August 20.
Second place on the day went to Yorkshire Bait’s Perry Stone who drew peg 79 at the opposite end of the Match Lake. Opting to fish both corn and pellet down the inside right from the beginning, Perry was straight into carp and F1s for a fantastic 180-13-00, earning his place in the £5,000 runner’s-up final on the Arena Lake while third on the day and narrowly missing out on his chance to fish one of the finals was Craig Elkin, Fox Match. Fishing from peg 77 on the Match Lake, Craig opted for worm fished over groundbait down the inside to take mainly carp and F1s for a weight of 171-7-0.
