Sixty-eight anglers attended what has to be regarded as the most talented field so far in the competition for this latest "Match This" qualifier at Barston Lakes.
Winner on the day was Preston Innovations rod Adam Wakelin (pictured right). Adam has fished consistently well over the most recent qualifier events finishing in the top five on two separate occassions, and fully deserved the win finishing nearly 20lbs clear of the second-best man Andy May.
Fishing with a 30g method feeder at range with both red boilie and red maggot hookbaits for the duration of the match, Adam was able to land mainly F1's ranging from 8oz - 2lbs, as well five bonus carp to 10lbs plus a few skimmer bream to put 72-02-00 on the scales at the weigh-in from peg 25.
Andy May (MAP) finished in second place with 54-02-00 from peg 36.
Fishing the method feeder towards the island, Andy took a mixed bag of carp, skimmer bream and chub to secure his place in the "Match This" Runner's-up final.
Third on the day was Jamie Hawkins. Again, fishing the method feeder over to the other side of the island, Jamie took 51-05-00 of all carp and F1's finishing just 3lbs behind second place.
However, Jamie, along with Andy May, Amer Jawad, Matt Higgins and Scott Miller, qualifies for the British Pole Championships for his effort.
