Match record smashed at top Wirral complex

Lingmere Fishery boss Steve Openshaw added to his impressive tally of victories at the complex during the latest event by smashing the match record with 150lb 8oz.

After drawing peg 25 on the Match Lake at the Wirral complex, the Fisherman’s Tackle-backed rod decided to use the Method feeder with a 6mm pellet hookbait and was in to fish from the off.

Sport got stronger as the session progressed, with carp, F1s, barbel and big skimmers all falling to the carefully presented trap.

Runner Alan Dewhurst was never in contention to steal top spot, but he managed to pick up a brown envelope after he placed 98lb 2oz on to the scales.
