Match angler wins trio of Trent events

Lincoln river ace Dean Smith is having quite a time of it on his beloved River Trent at present, winning three matches in a week and narrowly missing out on a fourth by ounces.

The Lincoln Whisby angler kicked off with victory last Saturday in the George Carratt Memorial at Laughterton with a 72-2-0 bream net followed by a Monday evening win in the Paul Andrews Aggregate League on the same stretch with 27-10-0 of skimmers, both nets taken on groundbait feeder with worm and caster.

Saturday then saw him complete the treble with 55-6-0 of barbel, including a 10lb 2oz specimen for victory in the Whisby Series at Torksey, feeder and caster doing the damage before the next round of the Andrews League saw Dean’s 32-14-0 of bream and skimmers pipped by Malc Firmstone by 12oz.
