Group moves against predatation

An organisation set up to help reinstate and protect roach on the Hampshire Avon has this week revealed plans to combat the threat cormorants pose to the species in the UK’s rivers.

The Avon Roach Project has announced its intention to lobby for a change in the laws surrounding the control of the predatory birds, launching an on line petition to gather support for the move.

With enough backing ARP are hoping to affect the upcoming review of the current Cormorant Licensing System by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
