Clegg praises England squad for cash donation

Former England boss Dick Clegg has praised the current squad for generously donating the majority of their winnings from the Home Nations event to help fund other international teams.

The squad scooped a cool £10,000 winnings for taking victory in the event at Cudmore Fisheries and unanimously agreed to put the prize back into ‘the pot’ to help the unsponsored ladies, veterans and disabled teams cover the cost of competing abroad in their respected world championship events this year.

“I know that the England squad members competing in the Fish O’Mania Home International had no obligation to pass on any of their winnings and the money was given freely without any second thought,” explained Dick.

“If we could have this kind of support from our government we would not find ourselves in this position every year,” he added.
