A globe-trotting angler who has travelled hundreds of thousands miles in order to land 100 specimens over the magic ‘ton’ finally achieved his goal with a huge 200lb Mekong catfish.
Five years ago Martin Hodgkinson began visiting some of the world’s most exotic fishing locations including Thailand, Gambia, the Dominican Republic and Florida.
The fishing fanatic from Wolverhampton has spent over £30,000 on flights and accommodation alone during his quest.
His impressive list of personal bests include a world record swordfish weighing over 1,000lb, hammerhead, bull and lemon sharks up to 400lb, 450lb grouper fish, plus tarpon and the elusive arapaima - which is one of the world’s largest freshwater species - up to 160lb.
