Angling is set to launch its on national lottery thanks to a free new competition that sees fishermen play heir rod licence numbers.
The Angling Lottery gives anglers the chance to get their hands on weekly prizes by checking their unique reference numbers printed on the reverse of their permit against the 500 winners printed in Angling Times every week.
Prizes include great tackle from the sport’s biggest names plus random cash prizes and there s no limit to the number of times any one licence can win.
The scheme is aimed at promoting the importance of buying an Environment Agency licence, as ell as raising awareness of the project’s main sponsor, the Angling Trust.
And members of the sport’s governing body will receive a major extra benefit as every few weeks a special roll-over of star prizes will be published which can only be won by members of the Trust.
The project kicks off in the paper on Tuesday, April 6 and ill initially run for four months.
Angling Times editor Richard Lee said: “This is a totally free- to-enter competition that has been very well supported by the tackle trade which sees the benefit of promoting the licence and building the profile of the Angling Trust.
“Long term, when developed, this scheme could drive Trust membership and help inject hundreds of thousands of pounds into supporting a strong governing body for our sport.”
If you’re lucky enough to match your number and win a prize, all you need to do is follow the simple instructions and we’ll post your gift straight to you.
Manufacturers already pledged to support the lottery include Fox, Preston Innovations and Daiwa.
