If ever the phrase ‘dedication is what you need’ had to be applied to a catch, it’s got to be this huge 18lb 8oz bream taken by Coventry angler Dave Boulstridge.
The specimen angler landed this fish of a lifetime after targeting Cambridgeshire’s Ferry Lagoon for big slabs, with this specimen his first example of the species.
Incredibly, it’s the first bream he’s caught from the ultra tough venue in six years of trying.
“The water is vast and the fishing is as hard as it comes,” said Dave. “I have had a couple of tench and a few big carp, which is why I use slightly heavier tackle, but I always wanted a really big bream. Now I’ve actually done it.”
Dave was fishing the water on a two-night session, taking the fish at around 11pm on the second night.
He fooled his big bream using double plastic corn hair-rigged on a size 10 hook to a 15lb hooklink.
