Common carp don’t come much bigger or better-looking than this stunning 48lb 4oz giant, caught from Spitfire Pool in Norfolk by Rich Wilby.
The 31-year-old Nash Tackle media manager, from Brampton in Cambs, finally slipped the net under his ‘target fish’ after spending 50 nights over the past two years in pursuit of his goal.
He said: “I watched the fish from up a tree for the previous two days in a bid to work out its patrol route, and even had it going on floaters at one stage. In the end I caught it very close to a weedbed first thing in the morning on a bottom bait, having lost a decent fish at 3.30am. When I finally hoisted her on to the scales, my legs turned to jelly!”
Rich used a Nash Baits IC-1 pop-up presented over 50 freebies on a chod rig incorporating a size 6 Nash Twister hook and a 1.5oz pear lead.
