Leeda first to unveil new fishing tackle for the 2011 angling season

The fishing trade show season is just about to get under way, and September and October will see the major tackle companies loading up their vans and hitting the roads to showcase their new products.

Redditch-based giant Leeda, the UK’s largest distributor of fishing tackle which owns a host of well-known brands such as MAP and Wychwood, is historically always the first company to exhibit its wares. The firm has been at the forefront of innovation, producing a raft of highly-acclaimed products, including the TKS Pole range, ACS reel system and MAP meat cutter.

This year looks to be business as usual for Leeda, as once again the MAP and Wychwood brands have a stunning array of unique and exciting new products ready for release. Last week the Angling Times tackle team was granted permission to take an early sneak preview of many of the new products, and although we will not be revealing the full line-up of exciting new products just yet, here is just a small taste of a few high-quality tackle items that you can expect to see coming out of the MAP and Wychwood stables next year.

The ACS Front Drag Reel - expected RRP £89.99

Commended as the ‘Best New Reel’ at this year’s EFFTEX show, the MAP ACS front drag reel will be available in smaller 3000 and 4000 sizes.

The original ACS freespool reel was perfect for all specimen and heavy feederfishing tactics, so the introduction of a smaller front drag model will now allow match anglers to utilise this superb reel system.

The ACS (Auto Clip System) allows the angler to fish in total confidence with the reel clipped-up at all times. As soon as the reel line reaches the clip, either from the clutch or by back winding, it automatically and seamlessly releases from the clip, every time. It’s a great new reel that should have an instant impact on the commercial match scene.
