Three personal bests in a week on the River Trent

This 14lb 4oz barbel was the icing on the cake of a memorable week’s fishing on the River Trent for Gavin White.

After landing personal-best chub and bream of 5lb and 6lb 4oz respectively from the South Muskham stretch earlier in the week, the Retford, Notts-based angler decided to try his luck once again on the prolific venue.

Despite finding the water low and clear, Gavin persevered with his session and was rewarded when his 11mm halibut pellet was eventually taken by the new personal-best barbel.

“During all my recent trips the weather and water conditions were less than perfect, but it’s proof that being patient in even the most challenging of scenarios can pay off.

“It is always great to land a personal best, but landing three in one week is something I’ll never forget,” said Gavin.
