Orchid Lakes' catfish record broken

Keen catfish angler Andy Berry broke Orchid Lakes’ venue record for the species when he landed a 52lb 3oz specimen during a five-day session on the Oxfordshire fishery.

The 35-year-old painter and decorator, from Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, fished squid and lobworm hookbaits popped up 18ins off the deck over tuna groundbait in open water on the Club Lake to catch the new personal best, together with five other fish including two thirties and two twenties.

“I’ve only been targeting cats for the past two years, and I love their sheer size and power,” said Andy.
