Mick Brown may be better known for catching big pike, but he’s clearly no mug when it comes to other species, as he proved by netting this 10lb 10oz barbel during a day on the River Trent.
After reading about the venue’s incredible current form in AT, the Market Deeping-based angler headed for day-ticket Ferry Farm stretch near Kegworth and was rewarded with the fine specimen along with three others to 10lb 2oz.
“I’d put my barbel gear in the car when I went to the Go Fishing Show. I’m glad I did, as both the doubles gave me a brilliant fight,” said Mick.
All his fish were taken on 10mm pellets fished alongside large groundbait feeders.
