Viewers are set to be entertained by their favourite laughing angler once again following the news that fishing legend John Wilson is filming another TV series for the Discovery Channel.
Norfolk-based John is currently jetting around the globe filming the 12 half-hour programmes that will make up John Wilson’s Fishing World, his landmark 20th series.
The dozen episodes promise to deliver an astonishing range of coarse, sea and game fish for the cameras, taking in destinations on four different continents along the way.
Among John’s targets are giant sturgeon from Canada, wolf fish from Norway and giant trevally off the island of Madagascar.
“Obviously I can’t tell you that much about this new set of programmes because I’m still filming them, but I’ve planned out all my fishing trips this year with the series in mind,” John told Angling Times.
“I’m delighted to be working with Discovery again. Angling has been in the wilderness for a few years now as far as fishing on TV is concerned, so I’m pleased and proud to be back on the box,” added the 65-year-old.
John is convinced that anglers will enjoy the new series, which will cover a variety of different species from all over the world.
“There will undoubtedly be something for everyone because I get to try out all the various techniques and disciplines I’ve always loved to use. I even get to catch big, deepwater Norwegian cod on the fly, and no one will have ever seen that on television before!” he added.
John Wilson’s Fishing World is expected to air later this year.
Next week Angling Times will exclusively reveal a whole host of new fishing programmes set to hit your screens later this year.
