The biggest-ever brace of grass carp – weighing 63lb 7oz and 60lb 12oz – has been taken by UK angler John Davey from French venue Etang de la Horre.
Both fish fell in a memorable 60-minute spell after picking up the 62-year-old Stoke-on-Trent-based angling coach’s tiger nut hookbaits, presented over 5kg of hemp on a clear area amid thick weed at 120yds.
“After catching the 63-pounder I was on a real high, then when my rod rattled off again, resulting in another sixty, I was lost for words,” he said. “I knew that there were big grassies in the lake, but I never imagined I’d have a session like this. It was a week I’ll never forget.”
John (62) used a Rigmarole Micro Braid hooklink tied to size 6 Gardner Talon Tip hooks.
