Chew Valley off to flier

The predator trials at Chew Valley Reservoir got off to a flying start last week, with big pike hauls being taken by bank and boat anglers alike.

None were more impressive than this 32lb 14oz personal best, caught by Devon-based specialist Julian Chidgey, who also boated fish of 25lb, 21lb 14oz and 20lb 12oz.

The Korum and SBS consultant, who used a selection of 6ins soft plastic lures to tempt all his pike, said: “It was unforgettable – the most rewarding and exciting day’s fishing I’ve experienced.”
