Brace of 30lb+ carp top a seven fish haul

A clear spot among thick weed proved to be the killing zone for Shaun Passmore (34), who took a brace of thirties as part of a big hit of fish from a tricky southern stillwater.

The best of the pair was this 36lb 2oz common, which the Pallatrax consultant from Barnstaple, Devon, backed up with a mirror of 34lb 6oz, as well as four twenties to 28lb 4oz.

The majority of his fish fell to Pallatrax Jungle Paste pop-ups mounted on chod rigs tied with 15lb Steamlink hooklinks and size 6 hooks, and offered over 6kg of freebies at 60yds range.

After seeing a few fish close to the surface though, he also banked two carp using a small piece of black foam on a zig rig.
