Famous brand names Shakespeare, Mitchell, ABU, Penn, JRC and Berkley all revealed fantastic line-ups of new products for 2010 at their launch show last week.
Among a plethora of new equipment on display was the stunning new ABU 706 closed- faced reel that is sure to find favour with the traditional river and float enthusiast.
Looking much sleeker and refined than the old-school closed-faced favourite ABU 506 and 507 models, this new reel headed an impressive line-up of rods, reels, chairs, bivvies and accessories from the Pure Fishing group.
Mitchell, a company steeped in reel-making tradition, proved that it’s no slouch on the development front either, launching one of the most handsome, lightweight float reels we have ever seen ¬ the carbon-handled Mag Pro Lite.
But it wasn’t all about reels at the show, as tackle giant Shakespeare unveiled an upgrade to its successful Mach series of rods.
The range will now be known as the Mach XT 1-3 series and includes many exciting additions, such as the new Mach 3XT 12ft two-piece pellet waggler rod.
The Mach 2XT series also boasted several new models, including a superb all-round 12ft, 2lb test curve Specimen rod.
Shakespeare’s entry level Mach 1XT range has also been further enhanced with the inclusion of three new short-range feeder/quivertip rods.
Carp anglers were also well catered for, and will certainly warm to the extensive new range of Contact products from JRC.
They include bivvies, bed chairs, and sleeping bags, as well as luggage, within the well-priced, introductory range.
