Wensum Produces Second Biggest Barbel Ever

Gofishing.co.uk can today reveal the full details of Steve Hunt’s record-shaking River Wensum barbel – and AT readers will be the first to see exclusive pictures of the stunning fish.

The Norfolk-based angler took the 20lb 8oz giant during an incredible weekend’s fishing that also saw the 38-year-old bank another lump of 17lb 10oz.

The bigger of the two fish, which is known as 'The Beast', is not only a new river record, it falls just ounces short of the current British best of 21lb 1oz – and now experts believe it’s only a matter of time before the Wensum reclaims the crown as the country’s premier barbel river.

“It’s a hell of a fish and a hell of a story,” said AT news editor Steve Stones.

“The Wensum now stands on the brink of history and we could be about to witness a new chapter in the big barbel scene.

“If you’re a fan of the species, or you just enjoy seeing pictures of stunning fish, you won’t want to miss Tuesday’s AT,” he added.
