PREDATOR fishing ace Mike Green capped ‘his best ever season’ in stunning fashion by banking three pike over 20lb on three different methods from three different venues, over the space of just three days!
It is the second time since December that Northants-based Mike has achieved the remarkable feat. This time round he began his memorable weekend at local venue Southview Lake where, fishing with a small jerkbait, he kicked things off by taking a beautifully-marked fish of 20lb 2oz on his very first cast - a new lure-caught record at the venue.
The following day Mike then visited a local gravel pit with long-time friend and angling partner Bob Church, where he took another cracking fish, this time weighing 25lb 12oz, on a livebait.
Just 24 hours later Mike completed his remarkable ‘trilogy’ at a friends private lake in Northants which had no previous history of big pike, having never produced anything over 20lb in the past.
This soon changed after Mike’s mackerel deadbait was picked up by another impressive predator, this time weighing 21lb 10oz.
“I have never enjoyed such a wonderful winters’ fishing, with six double figure zander, (all taken on fly fishing tactics to a best of 16lbs 14oz), and 15 pike over 20lbs, two of these being over 30lb! It is now the end of the pike season as far as I am concerned. When jacks start to follow the females in and stay right next to them while I am doing the unhooking, I believe it’s time to call it a day!” said Mike.
