They're rod rings, but not as we know them!

America is a country at the forefront of design and technology, as the new Recoil guides from REC Components prove.

The super-flexible rod rings bring a host of claimed benefits as they do not require plating and cannot corrode in any environment.

And that specification delivers guides that are 60-70 per cent lighter than regular stainless steel and 300 per cent lighter than the ceramic lined option so popular today.

Another huge claimed benefit is the elimination of flat spots when the rod is under compression, because the eyes can flex with the carbon.

In turn, this will boost casting distance as well as reducing line wear.

Angling Times tackle tester Mark Sawyer says: “These guides come in designs for fly, spinning and casting rods and I’d expect to see them filter through to Europe soon.”
