Rumours are just breaking in the Angling Times offices of two huge barbel.
With the extra water on rivers coupled by the mild temperatures, the big specimens have been on the feed.
It is understood both giants are very close to the existing British best of 21lb 1oz – a Great Ouse fish that was killed by otters in 2007.
Angling Times columnist Martin Bowler said: “It has been a great 12 months for barbel. Last winter was exceptional and if conditions continue, I fully expect to see a lot of huge fish landed."
