Back in August 2007 an appeal began on www.carpforum.co.uk to help replace the fishing tackle of a young angler called Dale. He had been robbed of his gear at knifepoint.
The story was reported in the Liverpool Echo, and since then the carpforum users together raised over £300 and also donated their spare fishing tackle and bait to get Dale back on the bank again.
The appeal was so successful that Dale and his mother contacted the forum to inform the users that they had become overwhelmed by their fantastic generosity, and that they even had a surplus of tackle and cash.
This led to the forum members designating a reputable charity to receive the excess funds, with the chosen charity being Get Hooked on Fishing.
The presentation, pictured, was a great success, clearly showing off the forum member's generosity.
Regional Co-ordinator for Shropshire, Karl Humphries, said: "This is a wonderful gesture by the carpforum members and will be put to good use in helping teach youngsters the fine art of fishing".
