There are only a few days to go before hordes of anglers will descend upon Annan’s popular Broom Fisheries in an attempt to raise thousands of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The exciting event, which has been labelled The Big Fish, already has around 50 anglers signed up to join in the fun on the day, although organisers are appealing for others to go along and get involved.
This will be the second year in which the fishery will hold two matches on the day in an attempt to cater for both coarse and game anglers.
A variety of prizes are in place to cover various categories, with the angler taking the heaviest bag and collecting the most sponsorship money set to be rewarded.
Fishery staff member Tog Porter believes the event will be a hit with anglers from far afield and hopes to beat last year’s total: “Last year we raised an incredible £7,500 in one day for the cause and this year we will try raise even more. It is definitely a day out for the whole family, with a tombola and marquee present. Even if the kids aren’t in the event, there will be space for them to wet a line and catch a few elsewhere. It also looks like their will be some karaoke going on at some point!” explained Tog.
